Five Winning Potty Training Tips

So, it’s time to enter the world of potty training. As a parent, you are likely looking forward to non-diaper days with great anticipation. Your little guy or girl may not feel the same way. Potty training can be easy for some kids, but for most of them, it is a difficult concept to understand. Until this point, they have been allowed to take care of that need whenever they must without a special trip to the bathroom. Potty training requires patience and sometimes a little education. Here are five tips you can use to teach your toddler how to use the potty.

First, make the potty training experience fun. Children do not respond well to pressure when it comes to toilet training. If you are constantly hounding them about going to the bathroom and punishing them when they make a mistake, they are going to struggle and feel anxious about the process.

One great way to make toilet training fun is to start the process with a new book or video. While you might feel silly reading a book about a child using the potty, it is a great way to show your child that other kids do the same thing and that it is what “big boys” and “big girls” do. This takes some of the anxiety away.

Another way to develop good toilet habits is to model the behavior yourself. Yes, it is sometimes uncomfortable to have a little audience when you are doing your duty, but if your children can see that you go potty in the bathroom, they will learn what they are supposed to do. Modeling is one of the best ways to teach a young child a new behavior.

When your child does use the potty correctly, immediately provide a reward, even if the action was involuntary. For example, if you are doing your routine of sitting your little guy on the potty when you think it is approaching the time for him to go and he does happen to go, provide a reward. This could be a small treat, like a chocolate chip, or it could be a special book or a special form of praise. This reinforces that going potty is a positive event.

If you begin the potty training process and find that it is not going well, take a break. There is no rule as to when your child has to be use the potty. Even if you think that she is too old for diapers, a short break is not going to hurt anything. Sometimes approaching the topic a few days later makes all of the difference in the world.

Finally, the best thing you can do to help your child learn how to use the potty is to establish a routine. Find the times that work best for you and your child, and take your child potty at those times every day whether or not she says she has to go. This will reinforce what you want her to do. When you feel that she has the hang of it, you can start waiting for her to tell you she needs to go. Remember, children need some time to learn about the potty, to get over their fears, and to respond to their bodies’ signals. Have patience and a good sense of humor, and the potty training will eventually work!

Buying Tips For Bath Toys

We’ve seen how Ernie loves his rubber duckie. And just like him, you want your kid to have a bath toy that he will enjoy taking his bath with. You go to the toy store in search of the perfect bath toy for your kid but found yourself in the middle of too many choices which leaves you puzzled and wondering which ones to get for your kid.
Bath Toys just like any normal toy requires careful thought and consideration from the parents before purchase. Follow these tips and you won’t have a hard time making your selection.
Tip No. 1: Durability. Look for bath toys that that are made of durable materials that will not easily wear out even though frequently thrown around or squeezed so hard.
Tip No. 2: Safety. Opt for bath toys that are made of cloth, rubber, or soft materials that will not hurt your kid in case he accidentally hits himself with it. Check to make sure that a toy does not have sharp or pointy edges, small parts that can easily fit your kid’s mouth or parts that can come off loose like little sewn buttons. Also make sure that it does not have any part that can rust since bath toys are always submerged in the water.
Tip No. 3: Educational Value. Choose toys that are not only fun to play with but also stimulate your kid’s mind. Give him a bath puppet to encourage imaginative pretend plays and positive interaction or give him a multi-colored wash glove to improve his visual perception and color discrimination. Always remember that every single minute of your child’s day holds a possibility for learning and mind enriching activities, this includes bath time.
Tip No. 4: Holds your kid’s interest. Of course, a bath toy that will hold your kid’s attention only for a few seconds is obviously not a good buy. Select toys that are fun for your kid to play with and that have features or activities that will captivate your kid’s attention for the whole duration of the bath and even for the days to come. It is also smart to alternate different sets of bath toys everyday so that your kid is not easily bored with them.
Tip No. 5: Budget. Don’t go for toys that will hurt your pockets or those extremely cheap ones that seem too good to be true but are in reality just poorly constructed. Go for toys that come in reasonable and affordable prices but are guaranteed to be made of the highest standards of safety and quality to ensure that you only get the best for your child.
Even though the wide selection of bath toys may make it hard for you to make your choice, with these simple tips, the right kinds of bath toys are not hard to find.
If you’re kid is terrified of tubby time, it’s not a cause for worry. Babies normally undergo a stage where they are scared of water and although it usually passes on its own, there are certain ways you can do to help alleviate your baby’s fear of bath.

Tips On Helping Any Child Develop Through Unique Baby Gifts

For any parent, or even for any concerned relative and family friend, the arrival of a baby is met with excited anticipation coupled with nervous concern. Everybody wants this new addition to the family to be the best person he or she can be.
This dream of personal greatness should start when the baby is just a few months old. Proper stimulation and plenty of tender loving care must be provided within a nurturing environment. One of the ways to provide appropriate stimulation is through unique baby gifts.Giving Gifts Appropriate for Baby’s Age
Each child is unique and develops at his or her own pace. This development can be aided through age-appropriate toys and activities, which drastically change as your baby progresses from being a cute infant to an active toddler.
Keep this in mind as you search for those unique baby gifts that you intend to give your baby, or your favorite niece or nephew, or grandchild, or godchild. Gift-giving, especially to innocent children, needs to be carefully planned. You need to balance what is good for their physical and mental development, and what they will truly enjoy. They have very impressionable minds that need careful handling from adults.Where to Find Unique Baby Gifts
You need not give expensive toys to consider them as unique baby gifts. You can even buy from thrift stores, garage sales, and consignment shops; just make sure that these are still in very good condition and are thoroughly washed before giving to the baby. If you buy off-the-shelf toys, you can still make them into unique baby gifts by as engraving the baby’s name on the wood or the molded plastic.
Just bear in mind that what makes a gift unique is the fact that you made it so. You thought it out, made an effort to put a personalized touch, can be actually used by the baby, and speaks about the baby’s uniqueness. Your efforts will be well rewarded with the baby’s and the parents’ smiles. What are Age-Appropriate Toys?
Usually, the manufacturer will label the toy as being appropriate for a certain age bracket only. Choking hazards and other toy features might pose a threat to baby’s safety, which makes it very important to heed manufacturer warnings.
From birth to one year old, baby toys are designed for sensory stimulation mostly of the sight, sound, and touch. As such, these are colorful, highly textured, and produce various sounds. Buy toys made of molded plastic since these are more durable than flimsy plastic. Quality is important for a baby rather than quantity.
For toddlers who love to explore the world around them and engage in physical activities, actions toys like push and pull toys and riders, cause and effect toys like pop-ups and lock-key activity toys, and challenging toys like puzzles and building blocks are appropriate for them.
Ultimately, unique baby gifts are about appealing to the child’s physical senses and sense of imaginative play. As each child is unique, his or her toys need to cater to the specific phase of his development rather than forcing the child to become what he or she is not. Uniqueness is a gift in itself, which should be reason enough to accept the child as he or she is.

A personalized baby gift can be hard to find. You want that personal touch to reflect the unique personalities of the adult giver and the baby receiver. But with unique baby gift baskets, your worries are over. You have a wide array of unique baby gifts to choose from at BabyLandGifts.com for both boys and girls.
